Abstract

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive lithological and geochemical study of coastal sedimentary deposits in the western part of the Red Sea and the northern part of the Nile Delta, conducted using correlation analysis, one-dimensional regression analysis, and one-way analysis of variance. Various patterns in the distribution of geochemical indicators have been identified, reflecting contrasting sedimentation conditions in both regions. It has been established that sediments in the northern part of the Nile Delta form under a transitional climate from arid to humid, with a predominance of terrigenous material and a pronounced correlation between rare earth elements and the pelitic fraction. Sediments in the western part of the Red Sea are characterized by an arid climate, a predominance of carbonate sedimentation, and a relationship between redox indicators and biogenic components. Based on statistical interpretation, differences in material sources, hydrodynamic regime, and redox conditions are substantiated, which is of great importance for paleoenvironment reconstruction and assessing oil and gas potential.
